Staying Positive through Gratitude

Do Not Be Anxious

This week, our focus is on gratitude! The Google Dictionary defines Gratitude as:

“the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”

The Bible also has many, many verses about being thankful. One of my favorite is Philippians 4:6 that says,

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

I love how God shows us that the solution for our worries and anxiety is thanksgiving. Think about it:

If you are worried about money and you thank God for how he has provided for you in the past, you can find peace because you are able to trust God to take care of you again.

If you are worried about the future and you thank God for directing you in the past, you can find peace because you are able to trust God to show you the steps you need to take in the days to come.

Gratitude helps us to remember that God loves us, has taken care of us and has the best in mind for us. Gratitude not only shows thanks for how he has taken care of us in the past, put it also shows that we trust Him for our future. Then, we don’t need to be anxious about anything, but we can rest in our trust of God.
