When I plugged the word “reinvent” into the thesaurus, several other words popped up. Remake. Renovate. Resuscitate. Reaffirm. Reawaken. Regenerate. Rehabilitate. Remodel. Reopen. Replace. Restate. Rebuild. Resume. Refurbish. (As an aside, isn’t it interesting that they all begin with “R”?)
What this showed me was that the word “reinvent” can mean many different things to different people. It really all depends on your story and where you are at in your life. So, what’s your story? January is the time we all think about resolutions. (Ironically, another “R” word.) The decision to make a resolution is one thing, but how to decide what that resolution will be is very much connected to your story.
Do you feel like you need to remake your life? Does it need a complete overhaul? Perhaps you are looking to resuscitate some spice and excitement in your life. It might be that you want to reawaken old dreams that have been dormant for a long time. Maybe you need to resume a goal that got waylaid for awhile? What does your story tell you about how you should reinvent your life?
Let this year be the year that you pick the right action for your resolution. Think through all of those different “R” words and decide which one is the right one for you. If you do, and follow through, you’ll have access to a different set of “R” words to revel in.
I’d love to hear what your word is! Leave a comment below.
